At the end of last year, I decided that this was the year to release Any Summer Sunday. I have loved the book for years and worked and reworked it.
It was only recently that I saw that this is the 50th anniversary year of the Stonewall riots. The start of the pride movement was the riot that happened when a gay bar, full to the tits with drag queens, was raided. That happened on June 28, 1969.
Now here we are, 50 years later, with a homophobic VP and a mormon church that just took the huge step of allowing children of same sex families to not be condemned (I’m not sure about the parents). But, there are flames and flamers of hope still spreading joy.
ASS is about friendship and joy and getting as much of the sweetness of life as each one of us can find.
I’d say it’s time for that.
